Our Hospitals at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust

Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust is an Acute Trust with 3 hospital sites and an additional off site state of the art Out-Patient Centre called the Thomas Linacre Centre.

The Thomas Linacre Outpatients Centre is based in Wigan town centre and provides the majority of out patient services for the Trust.

We also provide additional outpatient services at Leigh Infirmary.

The Royal Albert Edward Infirmary

Our Hospital and Outpatient sites are:

Royal Albert Edward Infirmary (Wigan Infirmary)
The main acute hospital which also provides Obstetric and Gynaecological services

Leigh Infirmary
Providing rehabilitation services, an outpatient service and it also houses a Walk In Centre.

Wrightington Hospital
Which is a world wide renowned centre of orthopaedic excellence and specialises in hip replacement surgery, upper and lower limb surgery and hip revision surgery.

Thomas Linacre Centre
That provides the majority of out patient services for the Trust.

Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust currently employ approximately 4500 staff and annually invest over £200 million in healthcare for the patients we serve.   Across the Trust we have over 750 inpatient beds.  Each year over 70,000 people attend the Accident and Emergency department at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary and over 40,000 people attend the Walk In Centre at Leigh Infirmary.  Approximately 300,000 people attend the Trust as outpatients.
