Volunteers

Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust welcomes volunteers on all hospital sites and in many of its departments and wards.

We are pleased to have volunteers perform a wide variety of tasks and roles, which complement the provision of clinical care whilst also providing assistance to patients, visitors and staff.

All volunteers must follow the Trust’s guidelines on recruiting volunteers and undertake checks deemed necessary before commencing any voluntary work.

Applications will only be considered from volunteers who live in the Wigan Borough.

The application process can take up to two months to complete.  The Trust considers voluntary work to be a serious commitment and requires all volunteers to be able to commit to at least 6 months of voluntary work after completing the application process.  On going commitment is required as all volunteers are requested to attend an annual training programme once every 12 months.  This includes Fire Lecture, Health and Safety, Infection Control and Information Governance.
