Brian Strett, Chairman of the Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Trust says: “We are extremely pleased to welcome Andrew as Chief Executive. Andrew’s excellent track record in the NHS at both a local and national level will be a great asset. Andrew brings a wealth of experience and expertise in working with key NHS partners to drive forward improvements in the way healthcare is provided. We look forward to working with him to develop NHS services in the Wigan Borough, to provide the best possible care now and in the future. The knowledge, leadership skills and experience that Andrew will bring with him to the organisation will be invaluable as we work towards greater financial stability and improving further our performance.”

Andrew is delighted to be taking on the challenge of becoming the next Chief Executive of Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Trust and sees it as a wonderful opportunity to drive the organisation forward to realise it’s full potential in providing high quality healthcare services for local people. Andrew says “"I am absolutely delighted to be returning to the Trust after nearly six years in London and Blackpool. It was a great honour and pleasure to have been Trust Chairman for five years and I have always tried to stay in touch with what is going on in the Trust. I have watched with pride and admiration as the Trust has gone on to consistently achieve high success, particularly through the star ratings. Great credit for this goes to the leadership shown by Brian Strett, Sheena Cumiskey and the rest of the Board and I wish Sheena every success in her new job. I very much look forward to renewing old acquaintances in the Trust and to working in partnership with staff and with colleagues in the PCT and local authority to build on those successes. The Trust's mission statement is "Our patients are at the heart of everything we do" - I could not agree more."
