Local Trust hosts National Child Health Examinations

Newsdate: 24th June 2009

Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to have again been chosen, for the second year running, to host the Royal College in Paediatrics and Child Health examinations.

More than 40 children across the borough have helped out with the medical examinations held at the Hawthorns Paediatric Outpatient Department on the Wigan Infirmary site. The exams require children and teenagers to take part in mock consultations with experienced paediatric doctors. The children will be presented with certificates to thank them for their cooperation.

The candidates were marked on the questions they asked the children and the answers they gave to the children and parents.

The exams are held twice a year and candidates and examiners attend from across all over the United Kingdom.  Only four or five hospitals are used for the exams throughout the country.
