Vets Festive Gift to Children’s Ward

Newsdate: 23 December 2011

The children on Rainbow Ward at Wigan Infirmary today received some Christmas treats from local vets at Anrich Veterinary Hospital. James Weston, Practice Manager, came bearing gifts that had been donated by patrons of the animal hospital. Anrich Veterinary Hospital invited its registered pet owners to bring in a small gift, to receive half price vaccinations. The hospital received nearly 100 gifts from pet owners to be donated. James chose the Rainbow Ward because as a child he also spent time in hospital over the festive period. James said, “I spent Christmas in hospital when I was a kid, and it’s just not the same as being at home. The staff try to make the day as festive as possible, but obviously all children would prefer to be at home on such a special day. At Anrich Vets, we are a family business, and as we are located close to Wigan Infirmary, we thought we could at least cheer the kids up a bit by giving them all little gifts. Also, the offer for discounted vaccinations helps pet owners to keep their furry friends safe and healthy.”
