Car Boot Sale for Charity

Newsdate: 26 July 2011

The Finance Charity Fundraising Committee (FCFC) will be holding a car boot sale to raise funds for the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at Wigan’s Royal Albert Edward Infirmary. The car boot sale is taking place on Sunday 7 August, at Buckingham Row car park behind Casa Carlos restaurant, Wigan, from 8am. The aim of the Committee is to raise enough money to purchase two upgraded ventilators for the department at a cost of approximately £25,000. Finance Charity Fundraising Committee logo

Mark Robinson, Clinical Lead for Paediatrics, said “It is great news that the Finance Charity Fundraising Committee have chosen Paediatrics as their first beneficiary to help us purchase the two new OXYLOG ventilators that will further enhance the high standard of care already delivered in the Paediatrics Emergency Care and on our Rainbow Ward. The machines will provide a stable continuity of care for babies who are very sick, often with critical lung disease and are only just stabilised on a ventilator.”

Pitches are still available at a cost of £10 per car, all of which will be donated to the fund. Money made from the sale of goods will be the pitch holders to keep unless they wish to donate some or all profits to the fund. For further information please contact FCFC via email or telephone 01942 773889.
