Easter Egg donation to Rainbow Ward

Newsdate: 5 April 2012

The Galleries Shopping Centre’s Easter Egg Appeal has been an ‘eggcellent’ success!

The Galleries appeal encouraged shoppers to donate Easter Eggs for children on the Rainbow Ward of Wigan’s Royal Albert Edward Infirmary.

Shoppers were asked to drop off Easter eggs at the Easter display in the shopping centre from 20 March, with the eggs being taken to the Rainbow Ward in time for Easter. Rainbow Ward at Wigan Infirmary is a general paediatric ward and has a mixture of beds and cubicles.

It is the children's emergency and long stay admission ward and is built around the playroom. The ward has children attending for a variety of medical procedures and reviews.

Richard Paxton, Centre Director of The Galleries commented, "We are overwhelmed by the generosity of our shoppers and local companies. Together we were able to spread a little Easter cheer with The Galleries Easter Egg Appeal. Every Easter egg donated will really bring a smile to the children in hospital and ensure they have an ‘eggstra’ special Easter.

The Galleries would like to thank Fairpoint Group Plc based in Adlington, Lancashire. The Company and its employees donated over 150 Easter Eggs for the appeal!  The centre would also extend their thanks to Specsavers in the centre who also generously donated over 50 easter eggs.
