Diarrhoea and Vomiting Visiting Restrictions Lifted

Newsdate: 1 February 2012

Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust can confirm that restricted visiting at RAEI, Wigan Infirmary has now been lifted.

However, we would like to stress that visitors should be sensible and NOT attend the hospital with any symptoms of diarrhoea and vomiting.

We can confirm that we do still have only one ward at RAEI, Wigan Infirmary closed to new admissions and this is Astley Ward.  Therefore, visiting on this ward is limited to two visitors per patient.
Visitors are also asked to ensure they adhere to the hospitals hand hygiene policies (which will be displayed on wards) and do not sit on patients beds.

Please note that the situation is being closely monitored on a daily basis and if norovirus begins to spread again, restrictions on visiting may again have to be imposed.

Further information can be found on this website or via Switchboard on 01942  244000.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter and helping to keep our hospitals healthy.
