WWL Shortlisted For Three National Healthcare Awards

Pictured: Andrew Foster CEOWrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust’s (WWL) reputation for high quality healthcare and innovation has been recognised with three shortlisted entries for the UK’s most prestigious healthcare honours, the Health Service Journal (HSJ) Awards 2013.

The only NHS Trust in the northwest to achieve three HSJ Award nominations, Chief Executive Andrew Foster has been shortlisted for the Chief Executive of the Year award which recognises the excellent all round performance of WWL in terms of quality, performance, patient satisfaction, staff satisfaction and finance.

WWL Clinical Research Nurse Chris Birchall is also celebrating after the HSJ Awards shortlisted her entry ‘Rheumatology research – The Positive Impact on Health and Wealth in the local community’ as a finalist in the Clinical Research Impact category.

Deputy Director of Education and Organisational Development, Rob Cragg persuaded the HSJ Awards judging panel to cast their votes in favour of his entry ‘The WWL Way – Using a partnership approach to achieve demonstrable improvements in culture, staff engagement and performance’, a leading contender in the Staff Engagement category.

Competition for a coveted HSJ Award remains fierce with entries from the cream of NHS Trusts the length and breadth of Britain passing the 1,100 mark.

Andrew Foster, Chris Birchall and Rob Cragg now look forward to discovering if their entry wins a HSJ Award at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on 19 November.
