The Neonatal department at Wigan’s Royal Albert Edward Infirmary received a special gift this week. Brian Halliwell and some of his close friends cycled over 42 miles to Southport and back to raise money for the Unit and raised over £300.00.

Brian raised the money as both himself and several members of his family have been in hospital recently including his one year old granddaughter, Isobelle who had been cared for on the Unit after a nasty bout of tonsillitis.

Brian says: “I wanted to raise some money for the unit after they did a brilliant job of looking after Isobelle.  All the staff on the unit are truly brilliant.”

Julie Armstrong, Lead Nurse for Neonatal Care says: “We are really grateful to Brian for donating the money which will be used to buy baby breathing monitors.”
