New Occupational Health Contract for WWL

Newsdate: 12 March 2013

Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust (WWL) is delighted to announce they have won a two year contract to provide occupational health services to Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Trust.

The Trust already provided occupational health services to the 1,200 staff who work in Ashton, Leigh and Wigan but from 1st April 2013 this will be extended to nearly 3,400 staff including those working in St Helens, Halton and Warrington.

Chris Samosa, Director of People, Planning and Development, said: “We are pleased to confirm that we have appointed WWL to provide our Occupational Health Services to our 3,400 staff working across Wigan, Warrington, Halton and St Helens and in the boroughs where we provide community dental services. We look forward to working with them to promote health and wellbeing of our staff.”

This is fantastic news for the Trust and our Occupational Health and Well-being Team who had to compete with a number of other potential providers in a public procurement exercise. The Trust’s recently awarded SEQOHS accreditation played a key part in securing this work.

The services WWL will provide include an Early Absence Support Program service along with other innovations that will help prevent ill-health, promote health and improve the effectiveness of the host Trust.

Jon Lenney, Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development, said: “We are delighted our bid for the Bridgwater contract has been successful. We offer a high quality consultant-led occupational health service to all our clients and we look forward to working with colleagues at Bridgewater in promoting health and well-being at work.”
