NHS Sustainability Day 28 March 2013

Newsdate: 26 March 2013

This Thursday (28 March) is the second annual NHS Sustainability Day, which aims to promote sustainable action in the NHS and across the health sector.

To mark this day WWL is inviting staff and the public to support our effort to become more sustainable and improve our local environment. From Wednesday (27 March) a decorative sustainability tree will be placed in the main entrances at Wrightington Hospital, Leigh Infirmary, Wigan RAEI and the Thomas Linacre Centre where sustainability pledges can be made by writing them on a paper leaf and sticking them to a tree. By making a pledge you can also be in with a chance of winning an energy monitor for your home.

On the day, displays and activities will be taking place at RAEI, to make staff and the public aware of what WWL is doing to improve sustainability, improve energy efficiency, waste and recycling. The Sustainability Team will be there giving you the opportunity to tell us at WWL what you would change or do to help make us a more sustainable organisation. There will also be sustainable freebies given away to those who visit.

To mark the event an English Oak tree will be planted at RAEI at 2pm on the 28 March, and in the grounds of Wrightington Hospital, Leigh Infirmary and Thomas Linacre Centre during the week commencing 1 April 2013.
