IQIPS accreditation has been awarded for WWL adult audiology services at two locations - Leigh Infirmary and the Thomas Linacre Centre close to Wigan town centre.

“Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh NHS Foundation Trust, Audiology Department were a model site delivering an exemplary service to patients, staff and referrers,” reported the IQIPS Assessment Team.

“Overall the provision of Audiology services at Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh NHS Foundation Trust is of a good standard. Staff were observed providing a caring and empathetic service.”

Kathryn France, WWL Audiology Services Manager, said: “I am delighted that the hard work and dedication of the Audiology team has been recognised by reaching the very high standards set by IQIPS.”

“This accreditation proves to patients that we provide a quality service with our priority being to offer hearing tests and supply free digital hearing aids in a single visit, whenever possible, with accessible lifelong aftercare”

“IQIPS Accreditation has been professionally developed by an expert group of over 80 healthcare scientists, doctors and other professionals. Attaining IQIPS Accreditation provides confidence: for patients it provides reassurance of the quality of the service and for staff it is a ‘badge’ of quality indicating confidence in their work and the service they provide.”

IQIPS accreditation is the ‘gold standard’ for audiology services in the UK and covers hearing services including adult hearing assessments and rehabilitation, as well as complex adult assessments, rehabilitation and tinnitus services.

Highlighting the quality of the NHS Audiology facilities in Wigan and Leigh, IQIPS assessors reported “the facilities….for both the Thomas Linacre Centre and Leigh Infirmary were observed to be bright, clean, modern and spacious with good wheelchair access to all clinical rooms.”

Andrew Foster, WWL Chief Executive, added: “I am delighted that our Audiology team has received this accreditation, which reflects the quality service they deliver for our patients. I would like to congratulate each of the team for their hard work in achieving this recognition.”
