Raising a four-figure sum for the Three Wishes hospital charity cancer and heart appeals, a large crowd of hospital staff, family and friends enjoyed a fantastic day of entertainment featuring a 5-kilometre foot race, 1-kilometre fun run and community fun day.

Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust (WWL) Deputy Chief Executive Silas Nicholls led the field home in the 5-kilometre March Hare Dash. Making it a double family celebration was 12-year-old Jamie Nicholls who finished first in the 1-kilometre Wheels ‘n’ Heels Fun Run.

“The first March Hare Dash and Family Fun Day was a hugely successful day,” said Three Wishes Fundraising Manager, Elizabeth Titley. “In particular, I want to thank the DW Stadium and the WWL Staff Engagement Team for their support and encouragement.”

Children enjoyed the fairground rides and other entertainment including face painting, bouncy castle, children’s entertainer and story teller

The fantastic success of the March Hare Dash was made possible by the support of the WWL Staff Engagement Team, DW Stadium staff and the many WWL staff members, family and friends who braved the chilly weather.

"Seeing so many people enjoying an active lifestyle together was really encouraging. Thank you to everyone who came along – parents, children, families, sponsors, volunteers and stallholders – for making the March Hare Dash such a huge success,” added Elizabeth Titley.
