Through the training we are hoping to support registered nurses to return to acute nursing.

This innovative course is currently aimed at registered nurses working in a community or sub-acute setting within the Wigan Borough. It is designed to enable registered nurses to regain their skills, experience and confidence and move back into the acute hospital setting.
The programme runs over 10 weeks. The first week consists of clinical teaching, followed by eight weeks of clinical placement on a ward at WWL. The final week involves assessment of the candidate and career planning.

Clare Thomas, Senior Nurse in Professional Practice commented “This programme offers a unique and exciting opportunity for nurses, working in the local health economy, to return to acute nursing. We are thrilled to be able to offer this programme to local nurses who wish to come and work at WWL.”

There are full time employment opportunities with WWL, on successful completion of the programme.
