Trust to Support Local Food Bank this Christmas

Newsdate: 2 December 2015

WWL NHS Foundation Trust is thrilled to be supporting local food bank, The Brick Project, this festive season.

The charity, based on Arcade Street, Wigan, aims to provide support to families and individuals who have direct experience of homelessness, or rough sleeping. To this end, the Brick Project is asking people to donate supplies, such as tinned meat, tinned vegetables, tea and coffee, to help out.

To support their efforts, WWL will be accepting food donations, at all Trust sites, during the week commencing Monday 14 December. The collection points will be at the Volunteer’s help desks on each site between 9am and 3pm. Security will collect the food on a daily basis.

Support for this incredibly worthwhile cause forms part of WWL’s social responsibility to the local community. All Trust staff are being asked to support this endeavour, with any spare supplies they can provide, so, together, we can ensure that the area’s homeless don’t go hungry this Christmas.

Deputy Director of Nursing, Pauline Law, helped to establish the partnership. “We are extremely happy to lend our support to the Brick Project this Christmas, as they do incredible work to help and support the homeless population of Wigan. We welcome any donations, big or small, to help them in their worthy cause of bringing a little Christmas cheer to vulnerable people in our society,” she said.
