Safety First: Moving and Handling Training Room Opens

Newsdate: 3 October 2016 Moving and Handling Room Opening

The WWL’s Quality and Improvement team are excited to announce the opening of their new Moving and Handling Training room that took place on 30 September.

Knowing how to correctly move and transfer patients and heavy loads, including medical equipment, is essential to the work that many of our staff at WWL do. In fact, we have deemed September to be moving and handling month at WWL in order to highlight the importance of these skills. The opening of the new training room is a significant moment as it is the first time we have had access to an onsite training room in quite some time.

By having access to onsite moving and handling training we can ensure that all of our staff receives practical training and continuous update training. Moving and handling training not only ensures the safety of our staff but also guarantees that patient safety and standards of care are maintained.

“Safety is our number one priority and as National Back Week commences on the 3rd of October the opening of our training room is a good opportunity to highlight  how important WWL sees moving and handling for both patient and staff safety.” Says Karen Ashcroft, Moving and Handling Quality Safety Matron.

The Moving and Handling Training room was officially opened on 30 September by Director of Nursing, Pauline Law.
