Wigan Nurse’s Royal Appointment

Staff Nurser Nicola Hardman at Manchester Town Hall

July 4, 2017

A nurse from Wigan was thanked by members of the Royal Family for her work with a victim of the Manchester Arena incident.

Staff Nurse, Nicola Hardman, who works on the Medical Assessment Unit at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary, Wigan, travelled to Manchester Town Hall for a special reception with The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, who met with NHS staff who had cared for those injured in the bombing.

Head of Nursing for Unscheduled Care, Diane Lee, said: “We would like to say well done to Nicola, she really did us proud at quite a nerve-wracking event!

“It was wonderful for Nicola to be able to experience meeting the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall.”

Nicola said: “I was included in a group that were introduced to the Duchess of Cornwall. I curtsied and shook her hand and had a really nice conversation with her.

“The event was a wonderful experience and I met some really nice people.

“I felt really special to have been chosen to attend and I was exceptionally proud to represent WWL.”
