Urogynaecology

Overview

Here at WWL Women’s Healthcare Unit, we aim to offer a one–stop Urogynaecology service wherever possible treating bladder problems and prolapse.

The Bladder Assessment Clinics treat bladder problems. We welcome patients presenting symptoms including:

  • Incontinence
  • Frequent Urination
  • Sudden urge to pass Urine
  • Painful Urination
  • Problems emptying the Bladder
  • Recurrent urine infections

We work closely with the Continence Advisory Service so that, where possible, patients can be treated outside of hospital or by a physiotherapist.

Patients with prolapse are being seen in designated urogyanecology appointments within the general gynaecology clinics of the urogynaecology consultants.

Patients who opt for conservative treatment of prolapse with a vaginal pessary can be followed up in our nurse-led pessary clinics if the service is not available within their own GP surgery.  These are based both in Leigh and Wigan aiming to reduce travelling time for those attending.
