Background:


Mr Shah completed his initial orthopaedic training in India. His specialist orthopaedic training was undertaken in the UK with fellowship training at the Centre for Hip Surgery, Wrightington Hospital, in hip and knee replacements and revision surgery. He also trained in the Orthopaedic and Arthritic Institute, part of Sunnybrook and Women’s hospital in Toronto, Canada furthering his knowledge and experience in joint replacement surgery. He was awarded the gold medal for the FRCS(Trauma and orth) exams in 2003 and went to Hong Kong as the Young Ambassador of the British Orthopaedic Association in 2004. He has been providing the regional pelvic and acetabular fracture service as a Consultant from 2006, as part of a team, which relocated to Wrightington in September 2009.

Mr Shah concentrates on hip and knee replacements for arthritis and other problems such as post trauma, previous surgery, deformity, failed implants, both in the young and elderly patients. He has particular interest in the fractured acetabulum following previous hip replacement surgery. He also provides a trauma service concentrating mainly on the lower limb with some general trauma. He has an interest in periprosthetic fractures around hip and knee replacements.

Mr Shah has lectured on several national and international platforms and teaches as faculty on various courses, particularly travelling to India to conduct acetabular and pelvic fracture workshops. He has publications, presentations and abstracts nationally and internationally in well recognised journals, including review articles and book chapters. His research interests include outcomes after acetabular fractures.
