Volunteering to Make a Difference

One of our Trust VolunteersAre you passionate about helping people and making a difference?

Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust may be the place for you.

Volunteering is an enriching and rewarding experience, helping to improve the lives of others and giving something back to the community. It also provides volunteers with the opportunity to meet new people and make friends, whilst gaining new experiences and skills. Our team of 500 volunteers are an invaluable asset to our Trust. They freely dedicate their time and commitment to helping support our patients and healthcare professionals. We are always looking for enthusiastic, motivated and caring individuals with a passion for helping people to join our team. If you’re interested in volunteering with us, please take a look at our advertised opportunities, role descriptions and assessment criteria by visiting the Volunteer Vacancies page. Why not take a look at our Volunteers Newsletters below too to see what our volunteers get up to?

If you would like to have an informal conversation or apply for one of our opportunities, please contact our Voluntary Services Manager, Nadia Koriba on 01942 822 509 or at volunteer@wwl.nhs.uk for an application form. Couldn’t find what you were looking for? We are also committed to developing and expanding our volunteer opportunities within the hospital, so if you cannot find what you’re looking for, we would love to hear your thoughts.

Please be aware that volunteering is not work experience. Our volunteers do not carry out or shadow any clinical work, or gain any hands-on care experience. If you are interested in shadowing or completing a Work Experience placement, please visit our Work Experience page.

Please note that volunteer placements cannot be used as a placement for a university or college course.

Our Values
Our patients are at the heart of everything we do. Our vision for Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust reflects our patient-centred focus. It is our vision to be in ‘the top 10% of everything we do’ by providing the best possible health-care for all our patients. Quality is also very important to us, which is why we have made it the focus of our strategy - ‘to be safe, effective and caring:’

Safe means it’s our job to protect patients against harm.

Effective means it’s our job to treat patients efficiently with good clinical outcomes.

Caring means it’s our job to care compassionately for patients and to meet their personal needs.

Our values underpin every aspect of our work across the Trust. Our volunteers help us to achieve our vision by providing valuable support to our patients and healthcare professionals.
