The Sterile Services Decontamination Unit (SSDU) is an NHS owned state-of-the-art facility based at Horwich near Bolton, run jointly by Salford Royal and Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trusts. The unit provides decontamination and sterilisation services primarily for reusable surgical instruments. With the unit commissioned in 2010 and maintained to a high standard, it can offer the best quality service and safety at a highly competitive cost.
