Here at WWL Women’s Healthcare Unit, we aim to offer a one–stop, wherever possible, Urogynaecology service treating bladder problems and prolapse.

There are designated urogynaecology appointments within the bladder assessment clinics and the general gynaecology clinics of the urogynaecology consultants.

We welcome patients presenting symptoms including:

  • Incontinence
  • Frequent Urination
  • Sudden urge to pass Urine
  • Painful Urination
  • Problems emptying the Bladder
  • Recurrent urine infections
  • Prolapse

We work closely with the Continence Advisory Service so that, where possible, patients can be treated outside of hospital or within the hospital by a physiotherapist.

Patients who opt for conservative treatment of prolapse with a vaginal pessary can be followed up in our nurse-led pessary clinics if the service is not available within their own GP surgery.  These are based in the Women's Health Unit at Leigh Infirmary.
