Basic Science and FRCS (Orth) Upper Limb Courses

The course is aimed at candidates who have passed part 1 of the exam and are as such ready to appear for the clinical section of the exam.

Course Fees

  • Basic Science Viva Course: £420
  • FRCS (Orth) Upper Limb Course: £525

Observer Places

Due to the high demand for this course, a limited number of observer places may be made available once all standard course places have been filled. Observer places are offered at the discretion of the Course Administrator and are subject to availability.

The fees for observer places are as follows:

  • Basic Science Viva Course: £200
  • FRCS (Orth) Upper Limb Course: £250

Booking Process

  • Registration forms will be emailed in October 2026 for the January 2027 course / February 2027 for the April 2027 course and June 2027 for the September 2027 course. 
  • All individuals who have requested to join the email reminder list will be notified once the registration form is issued and payment registration opens. The registration form must be received prior to the opening date. Once your form has been received, payment can be made by calling: 0300 707 6413.
  • We accept all major credit/debit cards except American Express

Course Transfer Policy
A maximum of two transfers to an alternative FRCS or Basic Science course date within a 12-month period will be permitted. Each transfer will incur an administration fee of £50 per course. All transfer requests are at the discretion of the Course Administrator.

Refund Policy

  • Cancellations made 8 weeks or more before the course start date will be eligible for a 50% refund of the course fee.
  • Cancellations made within 3 weeks of the course start date will be eligible for a 10% refund of the course fee.
  • No refunds will be issued for cancellations made with less than 3 weeks' notice.

Exceptional Circumstances
If the Course Administrator is able to fill the cancelled place, a refund of the course fee, less a £50 administration fee per course.

Refunds and Course Cancellation
  • Refunds may be issued subject to a £50 administration fee per course, which will be deducted from the refund amount.
  • In the event that a course is cancelled by the Course Coordinator, a full refund of all course fees paid will be issued.

 

The course fee will include: lunch and refreshments. Payment can be made by Debit/ Credit Card, with the exception of AMEX cards.   Payment is due at registration to secure your place. Wrightington Upper Limb Education Department cannot accept liability for costs incurred in the event of a course having to be cancelled, because of circumstances beyond its reasonable control. While we make every effort to run courses as advertised, we reserve the right to change the programme and/or the teaching staff without prior notice and to cancel any courses without liability (in which case there will be a full refund of course fees to participant). Note that any consequential losses (e.g. travel or accommodation costs) incurred in such cases remain the responsibility of the booker, and consideration should be made to taking out appropriate travel insurance for any non-refundable costs.
