Wigan Health & Research Forum
Our Research Strategy also aims to encourage health and care staff to develop their research skills, to explore improvements in care which is informed by research evidence and to adopt best care approaches for our patients, and ultimately improve the health of the residents of Wigan.
We have a long history of conducting high quality research across many clinical specialities and are involved in collaborative research projects from across the UK and around the world.
Research at WWL has increased over the last ten years and particularly so in the last 5 years with nearly 15,000 patients participating in research studies in various specialist areas.
Our partnerships with health and care organisations, with Wigan Borough Council and academic institutions working across the Borough, are critical to our ambition to increase research together and for adoption of research evidence. The Wigan Health and Care Research Forum has been established to connect research interested people working across health and care providers and with charitable and voluntary organisations supporting the health and care of our residents.
