Surgical Appliances (Orthotics)
The main function of the surgical appliance service is to facilitate the treatment and rehabilitation of the patient.
- About Us
This Surgical Appliances team conducts orthotic assessments to determine the need and the provision of a surgical appliance (orthoses) which, will either remedy or relieve a medical condition or a disability.
An orthosis may also prevent the development of a more disabling condition.
Examples of some of the Orthoses:
- Knee Braces
- Compression Stockings
- Abdominal Supports
- Spinal Braces
- Ankle Foot Orthoses (AFO’s)
The service also offers a continuing programme of maintenance and repair once the orthoses have been supplied.
