The Leigh Surgical Hub is a dedicated elective care facility operated by Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Designed to provide protected capacity for planned operations, the hub focuses on delivering high-quality surgical care in an environment separated from emergency pressures. This helps ensure patients receive timely treatment, experience fewer cancellations and benefit from a streamlined surgical pathway.

Elective surgical hubs are a key part of the NHS national recovery programme, helping to reduce waiting times and improve access to routine surgical procedures. The model is supported by NHS England's Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) programme and focuses on delivering high standards of clinical care, patient experience and operational efficiency.
