Wrightington Hall was the home of the Wrightington family for several centuries. It has been transformed into an educational facility of the highest international standards, celebrating the pioneering work on joint replacement carried out at Wrightington Hospital by Sir John Charnley and, by providing post-graduate teaching facilities for the Wrightington Hospital, will ensure continuing excellence.
The Conference Centre has a purpose-built Lecture Theatre , which seats 80 people. It has full multi-media equipment from either a fixed lectern or the Projection Room. There are large floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the lawns and lake, with electrically operated curtains producing blackout for presentations. Cable links are installed, lining the lecture theatre to the Upper Limb operating theatres and the Bio-skills laboratory, ideal for live surgical demonstrations and skills teaching.
Other teaching rooms include:
- Long Drawing Room (ground floor)
- Small Drawing Room (ground floor)
- Conference Room 1 (ground floor)
- Conference Room 2 (upper ground floor)
- Conference Room 3 (first floor)
All rooms have a full compliment of AV equipment, including flipchart & pens, whiteboard, OHP, TV & Video and LCD projector. Internet access is available by arrangement.
The Bioskills laboratory is a purpose-built facility for surgical teaching on cadaver and surgical models. There is an audiovisual link between the Bioskills lab, lecture theatre and operating theatres for surgical courses and conferences.
