Research For the Future

Research for the Future is an NHS-supported campaign that helps people find out about and take part in health and care research.

Taking part in research means you are helping to discover new ways to prevent, diagnose and manage illnesses.

Our Research and Development team are currently promoting the work of Research for the Future and giving our local community the opportunity to become involved.

The initiative has grown considerably and has supported NHS research across multiple disease areas - including COVID-19, heart, lung and kidney disease. All adults living in Greater Manchester and the surrounding areas, whether they have a health condition or not, can register to hear about research opportunities they may wish to take part in.

This research community allows patients to actively help to improve care and treatments for themselves and for other people.

Anyone over the age of 18 can register, you will receive information about research opportunities along with details of how to take part.

Over the past decade more than 10,300 people have registered with the campaign to take part in research taking place locally, and helped researchers behind 215 studies seeking to discover new ways to prevent, diagnose and manage illnesses.

Involvement can take many different forms, ranging from taking part in clinical trials for new treatments, completing questionnaires, being part of focus groups, and much more.
