The Trust has implemented new Car Parking charges for patient and visitor parking arrangements on all WWL Trust sites.

Car Parking is now ticketless and you pay on exit.

The Trust now operates an ANPR parking system (automatic number plate recognition) on all hospital sites.  This is a ticketless, pay on exit system and can be paid via cash or card at one of the pay stations before leaving the hospital site.

If you are a Blue Badge holder you will now need to scan your badge at one of the pay stations before leaving the car park - simply type in your vehicle registration number and then press submit.

You should then select the Blue Badge option and you will be prompted to scan the bar code on the back of your Blue Badge. This will ensure your free parking.

Please note, if you fail to scan your Blue Badge this will result in being issued with a PCN, (parking charge notice) which will be sent via the post – PCNs will never be sent via a text message.

Alternatively, your Blue Badge can be registered onto the Group Nexus Platform so that you don’t need to scan your badge every time you visit the hospital.  This will require a copy of your Blue Badge to be made (front and back) and your vehicle details ie registration number, make, model and colour.

To register on the Group Nexus Platform you should visit the Security and Car Parks office at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary site and one of our Admin team will copy your badge. Alternatively, you can email it across to CarParkQueries@wwl.nhs.uk ensuring that all the details needed above are included in your email.

Blue Badges are not restricted to park in blue bays only.  Please park within your blue badge guidelines and take note of signage on site, particularly restricted areas.

Please note, there is no Blue Badge or Exemption visitor parking on the new Freckleton Street Multi-Storey Car Park (MSCP), and you should park on the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary (RAEI) site to use the free parking access.

From April 20th 2026, Car Park A (at the front of Christopher Home) will be for Blue Badge holders and Exemption visitors only. Everyone who parks on this car park MUST display a Blue Badge or Exemption Sheet on their vehicle dashboard, otherwise they will be issued with a PCN (Parking Charge Notice).

Drivers who park on Car Park A must ensure they have registered their Blue Badge via the Car Parks and Security Admin Team or alternatively scan their Blue Badge via the pay station before leaving the site as outlined above.
