Elbow

The most likely structures to be a cause of elbow pain are the joints, ligaments or muscle tissue in the surrounding areas. If you have suffered a sudden, acute injury then any of the above could be the cause. A good starting point in this situation is the following leaflet, which contains information on helping these acute injuries settle down. The majority of times the symptoms will settle within a week or 2.

If however you experience any of the following or area concerned then seeking a medical opinion at your GP or A&E is advisable:

  • A sudden traumatic and/or high impact injury
  • Severe Pain or the elbow is hot, red or very swollen
  • If you have tingling or numbness in or below the elbow

If your problem doesn’t settle within a few weeks with the above information and advice, then a self referral to ourselves would be advised.
