New Pathology Computer System

From Monday 28th September, Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust will begin using a new computer system to manage laboratory tests and results.

This change is part of a wider programme across Greater Manchester to introduce a modern system that will help services work more effectively together and improve how laboratory information is managed.

Will this affect my care?

Most patients will not notice any difference. Your blood tests and other laboratory investigations will continue to be processed and reported as normal.

As we move to the new system, some laboratory services may have reduced activity for a short period while the change is completed. Plans are in place to help minimise disruption and maintain patient services throughout the transition.

What might be different?

Healthcare professionals who request tests and review results will see some changes to how tests are listed and how results are displayed in the new system.

Keeping you informed

The Trust is working closely with clinical teams to prepare for the change and ensure staff receive the training and support they need before the new system goes live. Additional guidance will continue to be shared in the weeks leading up to the launch.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we make these improvements.
