What does the term Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Mean?

Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) refers to the parts of the body which include the pancreas, liver, bile ducts, gallbladder and the duodenum.  The abbreviation of HPB is very often used by the medical team, nurses and other healthcare professionals who may be involved with your care.

What is the role of the Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Macmillan Nurse Key Worker?

The HPB Macmillan Nurse Key Worker provides a service for patients who have been diagnosed with a HPB cancer.  The HPB Macmillan Nurse works closely with the Medical team physicians who are involved with your care.

The nurse is available to provide a point of contact for patients and their families who have received this diagnosis. This point of contact continues from your diagnosis, throughout investigations and treatment.

A keyworker is someone who can help to co-ordinate the patient’s journey by providing information, support and guidance to patients, relatives and carers.

We can offer:

  • Advice and support to you and your family.
  • A link to other services and treatment centres.
  • Point of contact- Key worker.
  • Referrals to other services as your needs require.
