Introduction
Having a diagnosis of cancer can be a difficult time. It can mean a lot of investigations and lengthy treatments. Whilst your doctors, nurses and dietitians will support you through this time, we appreciate it can be very helpful to talk to someone else who is going through or has gone through the same process.
You may be fortunate enough to be able to access a Support Group in your area. However, it may be that your hospital is unable to provide a group at the current time, or perhaps it may be more convenient to access a group in another area. Please feel free to contact a group to see if this is possible.
This leaflet provides a list of Support Groups, the times the meetings are held, and contact numbers to find out more. All these groups are supported by Upper Gastrointestinal (UGI) Clinical Nurse Specialists, and sometimes other professionals are present during the meetings.
The Support Groups cannot be used instead of the regular clinic appointments that you have with your own doctors and nurse.
