Get the care you need quicker
For many health concerns, there are faster ways to get medical help rather than attending the Emergency Department.
Choosing the right service for your needs helps you get the care you need and ensures emergency services are available for those who need them most.
If you need medical help but it's not an emergency there are other services that may be able to see you more quickly.
Visit our Choose Well page for further information.
Live Waiting Times
This page shows you how many people are currently waiting in our Emergency Department and Urgent Treatment Centres, and the waiting time that you may expect.
All patients are seen in order of clinical priority.
Emergency Department, Royal Albert Edward Infirmary
This is the current waiting time and number of patients at the Emergency Department at The Royal Albert Edward Infirmary.
Please note: The longest wait time to be seen is the current maximum waiting time to be seen and fully assessed by a medical or nursing professional. This is the time from arriving to initial assessment (not triage), not the total time spent in the department.
Please remember: Emergency Departments and 999 are for life-threatening emergencies and serious injuries only. The most seriously ill patients will always be seen first.
