In recent months, Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (WWL) have been evaluating the Shevington Clinic site.
Independent surveys of the building and car park have identified significant deterioration with major remedial work required. WWL has been advised that relocating the two services from Shevington Clinic to an alternative venue would be the safest immediate option for our staff, patients and visitors.
It is proposed that from Wednesday 1st April, the phlebotomy and podiatry services will be relocated to the Physio and Foot Surgery at 18 Broad O’th Lane, Shevington, Wigan, WN6 8EA, which is located under half a mile away from the current location.
On average, 105 patient appointments take place at Shevington Clinic per month. These appointments can be accommodated at the alternative venue, which will be used by the NHS on Monday and Wednesday each week. The new venue will be undergoing refurbishment work to ensure the facilities meet NHS standards.
There is a free car park opposite the new clinic, along with a bus stop and pedestrian crossing directly outside.
The proposed relocation does not affect the GP services at Shevington Surgery.
We understand that the proposed relocation of services from Shevington Clinic could cause concern among our patients and community. We would welcome your views on the proposal and have arranged a community engagement session at Shevington Clinic on Thursday 5th March from 3pm - 6pm. Members of the community are invited to meet with members of staff from the Trust, who can talk you through the plans and answer any questions you may have. We want to listen to you and involve you, and your feedback will be crucial in helping to shape our plans for Shevington Clinic.
