Last year's People's Choice Award Winner, Laura Jenions
Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (WWL) is once again inviting patients, families and members of the public to recognise an exceptional member of staff through its annual STAR (Staff Thanks and Recognition) Awards.
The ‘People’s Choice Award’ gives the local community a unique opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to a member of Team WWL who has made a real difference to their care experience. Whether through outstanding compassion, unwavering support during a difficult time, or exceptional service that left a lasting impression, this award celebrates those colleagues who go above and beyond every day.
Kev Parker-Evans, Chief Nursing Officer, said: “Our patients and their families are at the heart of everything we do, and the People’s Choice Award is a wonderful way for our community to recognise the dedication, kindness and professionalism of our staff. Every day, colleagues across our hospitals and community services make a positive difference to the lives of patients and their loved ones, often in ways that go unseen.
“Whether it is a nurse, doctor, healthcare support worker, therapist, administrator, porter, volunteer or any other member of Team WWL, we want to hear about the people who have made your experience that little bit better.”
Recipient of the very first ‘People’s Choice Award’, Critical Care Outreach Practitioner, Laura Jenions from WWL’s Critical Care Outreach Team, reflected on what it meant to her to win last year. She said: “Winning the People's Choice Award was incredibly humbling and emotional because it came directly from the patients and families I have had the privilege to support. Knowing that people took the time to nominate me after such a significant and challenging period in their lives meant more than any accolade. Being recognised by patients is particularly special, as it reflects the impact that compassionate care, listening, and support can have beyond their hospital stay.”
