A huge congratulations to the Estates and Facilities Team at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (WWL), who successfully completed the gruelling Welsh 3000s challenge in support of Three Wishes, the Trust's dedicated hospital charity. Colleagues including, Joshua Balmer, Andrew Ledwith, Louise Leyshon, Leon Fairclough, Nathan Lever, Tony Ashcroft, Hannah Walker and Jen Radcliffe, joined forces to take on one of the UK's toughest mountain challenges.
The Welsh 3000s requires participants to summit all 15 mountains in Wales over 3,000 feet within a demanding 24-hour period, testing both physical endurance and mental resilience. Covering miles of rugged terrain and steep ascents, the team demonstrated incredible determination, teamwork and perseverance following months of preparation. Their efforts have raised over£4,000 for Three Wishes, helping the charity continue its work supporting patients, families and staff across WWL's hospitals.
The funds raised will contribute towards projects that enhance patient care, support staff development, purchase specialist equipment and improve hospital environments beyond what standard NHS funding can routinely provide.
Emily Mundon, Charity Manager at Three Wishes, added: "We are so grateful to our Estates and Facilities colleagues for their remarkable effort and determination in completing the Welsh 3000s. Fundraising like this makes a world of difference to our hospitals. It allows Three Wishes to provide extra comforts, cutting-edge equipment and enhanced environments that directly improve the experience and wellbeing of our patients and staff. Without the dedication of supporters like them, these additional enhancements simply wouldn't be possible."
This fantastic achievement not only highlights the dedication of colleagues within Estates and Facilities but also demonstrates the positive impact that fundraising can have across our hospitals and local communities. What a challenge. What an achievement. And what an incredible amount raised for Three Wishes.
Donations to support the team's fundraising efforts are still open and can be made via their JustGiving page: www.justgiving.com/team/estatesandfacilitieswelsh3000s
