Mr Joseph Ring is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic surgeon specialising in the treatment of disorders of the foot and ankle. His practice includes the management of the spectrum of foot and ankle conditions both trauma and elective including diabetic foot care.

Mr Ring was appointed to Wrightington hospital in April 2023. He is a Fellowship trained Specialist Foot and ankle surgeon who has joined us from Royal Bolton hospital where his consultant practice began in 2019. He trained at the University of Manchester before undertaking his training rotations in the West Midlands, Mersey and completed his specialist training here in the Northwest. Mr Ring completed two post-CCT fellowships at the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield. One in Foot and Ankle Surgery and one in Trauma and Limb Reconstruction.  

Mr Ring is experienced in research and has multiple presentations and publications in Foot and Ankle, Trauma surgery as well as patient safety and litigation. Mr Ring is proactive in teaching and had a PGcertEd qualifications to support this. He is a regular faculty member on courses in Wrightington and beyond. He regularly attends and contributes to national and international orthopaedic meetings.

Mr Ring has a keen interest in quality improvement, patient safety and medical leadership. He has completed the British Orthopaedic Association National Leadership fellowship and has a master’s Level Qualification in strategic management and leadership. Mr Ring is currently the orthopaedic lead for the diabetic foot service in the trust.

Mr Ring aims to deliver a professional and personal experience to all his patients, using the latest evidence-based techniques in his sub-speciality supported by the WWL foot and ankle MDT team.
