Qualifications: MBBS, MRCOG, FRCS

Mr Shahid is a surgeon by background with main interest in benign gynaecological surgery.

He was initially appointed as locum consultant in WWL in August 2009. Mr Shahid was appointed on substantive consultant post in January 2011. He completed the certificate for training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Northwest Deanery in May 2009.

Mr Shahid’s main interest and expertise are in vaginal surgery including vaginal hysterectomy, subtotal vaginal hysterectomy, repair of vaginal wall prolapse, vaginal vault fixation, female urinary incontinence tape procedures, and colposuspension. I perform female urodynamics and bladder assessment for urinary incontinence on weekly basis and manage incontinence with a multidisciplinary approach involving community continence advisory team and pelvic physiotherapist. Other areas of interest are:-

Out patient hysteroscopy, both diagnostic and operative including endometrial polyp resection, Thermachoice balloon ablation

Outpatient cystoscopy  

Colposcopy  and loop excision treatment for precancerous changes under local and general anaesthesia

Intra partum obstetrics
