MSK Community Appointment Days
OVERVIEW:
Meet NHS physiotherapists, podiatrists and community health partners offering practical advice, rehabilitation support and wellbeing information to help you move better and feel stronger.
Our Musculoskeletal (MSK) Community Assessment Days are designed to make it easier for you to get the care and advice you need, all in one convenient session. They are organised alongside community partners and are free to attend.
- What are Community Appointment Days?
Community appoinment days (CAD’s) are community-based events where health services, social care and community partners come together in the same space to provide easy and convenient access to services. The Wrightington Wigan and Leigh (WWL) musculoskeletal CAD’s are centred around residents who have been referred to the musculoskeletal (MSK) physiotherapy service. People who have been referred to the service and reside in the area local to an upcoming CAD will be sent an invite to book an appointment time. Attending these days enables our clinicians to find out what matters to you, then work with you to make it happen.
- How do I access a Community Appointment Day?
If you have been referred, or self-referred, into the MSK Physiotherapy service and have been placed on a waiting list you will automatically receive an invite to any upcoming CAD in your area. The invite will come via text message and will include a booking link. Once you click the link, you will be offered a range of appointment times throughout the day which you can select. If you are unable to use the booking link there will be a phone number listed on the text message for you to call and book.
- What happens on the day?
When you arrive at the event at your scheduled appointment time you will be checked in by our admin team who will confirm your details, issue you with your patient passport and a health screening questionnaire. A Physiotherapy clinician will have a one-to-one conversation with you about what is important to you. Following this you may need a physical assessment which will be conducted in a separate space within the leisure centre or it maybe that you can move straight to our rehab zone where clinicians will support you to learn appropriate exercises to help achieve your goal. You will then have the opportunity to visit our community village where other services will be stationed offering help, support and advice for a wide range of issues.
