- Hospital Dietitians (Adult)
All adults who come into RAEI are checked for signs of malnutrition (not eating enough or getting the right nutrients). The nurses do this in the first 24 hours after they arrive and then once every week throughout the hospital stay. This helps make sure you get the right food and care while you are in hospital.
If you are found to be at high risk of malnutrition, or if you need help from a dietitian, the nurses or doctors will send a request for you to be seen.
At RAEI, hospital dietitians work with adult patients on:
- All medical and surgery wards
- Acute Stroke Unit
- Intensive Care Unit
- Coronary Care Unit
The Dietetic Department at RAEI provide a nutrition support service and advise on:
- Malnutrition
- Nutrition to support with wound healing
- Tube feedings (NG/PEG/RIG)
- Parenteral nutrition (IV nutrition)
- Therapeutic diets, e.g. post-oesophageal stent, high output stoma and liver disease
